The Neon
Sign Survey is the first of its kind. The Neon Museum coordinated
a scholarly survey of nearly 100 properties on The Strip from Sunset
to Sahara in 2002. Data was collected by UNLV student Josh Cannaday
and formatted for the web by David Schwartz, UNLV Special Collections
Gaming Studies Research Center Coordinator.
Partial funding was received through a grant from The Nevada Humanities
Committee. Additional funding was received from the Nevada Arts Council.
Special thanks to Richard Hooker, City of Las Vegas Leisure Services
Division, as well as Dedee Nave, the late Frank Wright and The Neon
Museum Board of Directors for their valuable assistance with this
project!
It is our hope that this data will help all those interested in studying
Las Vegas' unique landscape through its inevitable changes! Plans
are underway to expand the survey to include more of Clark County
and eventually the state in cooperation with NEONN (Neon Enthusiasts
of Northern Nevada). Link to NEONN article here.
Please contact the Neon Museum for permission to use any of the copyrighted
data or images on the survey site. Usage fees may apply. |
